The battle between light and darkness has raged for Millenniums. In the Bible the first evidence for this battle comes from Genesis 3. Eden was the pristine garden made for the enjoyment of mankind. YHWH told Adam and Eve they could not eat of the tree of the “knowledge of good and evil”. In order to get Adam and Eve to break the commandment of YHWH the serpent offered a promise. This promise was the promise of enlightenment or knowledge. The serpent told them their “eyes would be opened” and they would be as the gods “knowing good and evil”. One of the most important characteristics of the serpent’s deception is the promise of enlightenment. This idea of “light” is where the modern association of Lucifer the light bearer comes from. Lucifer is Latin for “light bearer”. One of the most prominent symbols of this “enlightenment” is the open eye. The open eye will often be found associated with people or groups who espouse the Luciferian idea of enlightenment. Ironically, it is often the proponents of this “enlightenment” who are the most vocal in their ridicule of the Biblical record of Genesis. Yet, they by their very ideas and symbols give evidence for its accuracy.
